Peggy Gene Clark Manning, 84, Colorado City, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 14, 2017. She passed away in the Hendrick Hospice Center in Abilene with her family by her side.
Peggy was born on July 6, 1933 in Grayson County Texas to the late R.O. “Gene” and Alberta Haliburton Clark.
Peggy was a true preachers wife always making sure to have church be the center of family life. She was passionate about her God and loved her family with all her heart, making family her life-long commitment. She did not believe in giving up on family and believed that with hard-work and dedication a couple could make it through any obstacle that got in the way, which is shown by the fact that she and he husband Bob had 67 wonderful years together before her passing. In her spare time Peggy enjoyed fishing, and enjoying all the beauty God put on this earth, including flowers (especially roses) watching the birds, or finding a friend in a squirrel that visited her daily. Peggy set a great example for her children and will be missed by many in the community.
Peggy is survived by her husband Bob Manning of Colorado City, her children; Steve Manning and wife Sherri of Mansfield, John Manning of Westbrook, and Bobbie Jean Thompson of Colorado City. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Michael Thompson of San Antonio, Philip Thompson of Ranger, Sara Morris of Colorado City, Shana Parks of Hico, and Casie Cook of Weatherford, as well as by a brother James “Bo” Clark of Whitewright, a sister-in-law Becky Clark also of Whitewright and by her husbands brother Bill Manning of Bonham and his sisters Jean Standifer and Nelda Bursell both of Bonham and Vera Reynolds of Alburque, N.M..
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother David Clark.
A funeral service for Peggy will be held on Thursday, September 21st at 10 am at the Westbrook Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Smith officiating, burial will follow in the Westbrook Cemetery. The family will be present for a visitation on Wednesday night September 20th from 6-8 pm at Kiker Seale Funeral Home for a visitation.
