Colorado City – Mr. Waddell Strain, age 85, of Colorado City, died Saturday morning in a local care center. Graveside services will be at 2 PM Monday in the Handley Cemetery with Jeremy Strain and Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Strain was born November 29, 1924 in Mitchell County to Edd and Susa Hardee Strain and had been a lifelong resident of Mitchell County. He married Geraldine “Jerry” Posey on November 17, 1946 in Colorado City. He was a rancher and former part owner of the Abilene Livestock Auction and had an interest in South Plains Feed Yard in Hale Center. He strived to keep his children active in his farm and ranch operations, which has served 5 generations.
He is survived by his wife, Jerry Strain of Colorado City; a daughter, Jerry Dell and husband Jimmy Haggerton of Lenorah, TX; 2 sons: Eddie Strain of Colorado City and Larry Strain of Hobbs, NM; 7 grandchildren: Jeremy and wife Machelle Strain, Coty and wife Emily Strain, Mandy and husband, Mike Barkley, Jim Bob and wife, Cindy Haggerton, Jennifer Haggerton, Haylee Strain and Larrah Strain; 7 great grandchildren: Cole Strain, Tanner Strain, Landon Strain, Brenlye Strain Kezlye Strain, Brandon Barkley and Harper Haggerton.
His is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joy Fern Morris and a brother, Pete Strain.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
