She was born on March 12, 1944 in Pecos, Texas to Hugh and Annie Keene Lawson.
Dorothy married the love of her life Mr. Dan Smith on June 23, 1962 in Bellmead, TX after graduating Salutatorian of her class in Stanton ISD in 1962. She worked for many years for Ballinger County and for Midland County both in the Tax office and for the Sherriff’s office until her retirement in 1998. After she retired she and Dan moved to Colorado City where they ran the mission for many years. Dorothy was a devout wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and dear friend to all. She was the type of woman who was a lot of fun to be around and knew how to change your mood from bad to good in an instant making you laugh and smile when needed most. She considered her grandchildren and great-grandchildren her diamonds. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, and spending a lot of time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Roger Smith of Colorado Ciy and Glenn Smith and wife Beth of Midland, by a daughter Johnnie Browning and husband Mike of Darby Montana, by grandchildren Dana and fiancé Eric, Brandi and husband James, Brittany and husband Swede, Madison and husband Nick, TJ, Ben and wife Tori, Mayson, Mary Dawn, Mackensie, Misty, Michael and wife PavElee, Michelle, Reace, Katlyn, and Tanner and great-grandchildren Keegan, Callie, Peyton, Grayson, Jessi, Codie, Frederick, Annalyn, Dottie, Sophie, Lexi, Levi, Saylir, Lincoln, Hudson, Ruben, Kade, Christian, Jordan, Arianna, and Blayklin. She is also survived by a brother Larry Lawson of Groesbeck a sister Susie Hillger of Stanton, and by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dan Smith and by a brother Glenn Lawson.
A graveside service for Dorothy will be held at a later date
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kiker Seale Funeral Home.
