Mrs. Dora Stansel Sutton, age 91, of Odessa and formerly of Colorado City, died Wednesday morning in an Odessa hospital. Services will be at 1 PM Friday, August 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Colorado City with Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Burial will be at 1 PM Saturday in the Alvord Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Cleveland presiding, under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sutton was born April 20, 1924 in Alvord to W. J. and Nannie Ellen Bates Greenwood and had been a resident of Colorado City since 1963. She married John Stansel on June 28, 1943 in Electra, TX. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1980. She then married Jake Sutton in 1982 in Colorado City. He preceded her in death on November 15. 1990. She was employed by the CISD Cafeteria Department for 14 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons: Jerry and wife, Denise Stansel of Denton and Tim and wife, Dahti Stansel of Kermit; two sisters: Mildred Haney of Alvord and Wilma Hudspeth of Cleburne; 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson, Jeremy Chad Stansel and two sisters: Nellie Nivens and Beth Simms.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
