On the evening of June 2, 2020, Shirley J. Hoch of Maple Valley, WA passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December 10, 1948, to the proud parents of Aldo and Delores Turri and was raised in San Francisco, with her sister, Joann and brother, John. Shirley married William Hoch, Jr and eventually settled in South San Francisco, where they raised their 6 children, Angelique, Crystal, William III, Marcus, Desiree, and Zachary. After the sudden passing of her first husband, Shirley married Romolo Braschi, and in 2015 relocated to Washington.
While in SSF, Shirley was heavily involved in the community. She was active in the local PTA and was elected to the South San Francisco Unified School District in the early 90’s, a position she held for over 20 years. Her passion was serving the people of SSF and making sacrifices to help those in need. Shirley recognized that the community needed more, thus creating a non-profit, The Foundation for Youth, which raised money to support local community programs.
Shirley has touched countless lives during her years of service with her dedication and perseverance. However, the role she cherished the most was being a mother to her 6 children and grandmother to her 15 grandchildren, Khaiel, Kiyani, Rebecca, Andrew, Brianna, Aaron, Marcus, Mason, Charles, Tyler, Jaden, Shiloh, Sophia, Sydney, and Scott Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 pandemic, the family is unable to host a memorial service for Shirley at this time.
