Sam Howard Laine (63), of Collierville Tennessee, passed away May 20th, 2023 from a long-term illness with his sons by his side. Sam was born in Jackson, MS and grew up in Lubbock Texas with his loving parents Sam and Rebecca Laine and little sister Tamah. Sam loved running track, playing football and basketball while growing up. Sam attended college at Texas tech and moved to Oxford, MS in 1981. There Sam met Janet Hewes who he later married and had two sons, Austin and Bryce and eventually moved to Collierville TN to raise their family. Sam was a very active father often coaching his sons’ teams and even some teams his kids were not on at the time. Music was his greatest love. You could find him at all the festivals and all the concerts and he kept an avid collection of records. Sam worked at Top RX for over 20 years and many clients received personalized CD’s with their orders as a special gift. Sam had a wild and free spirit that made a lasting impact on so many across the country and will be missed by all.
Sam is survived by his Mother Rebecca Laine, sister Tamah, husband Jeff, and their children, Laine, Harper, and Mary Lennox Halfacre; his eldest son Austin, wife Jessica and their son Caiden Laine; his youngest son Bryce Laine and his daughter Layla Grace; and his former wife Janet Laine. Sam was predeceased by his father Sam Burton Laine.
The Celebration of Life Ceremony for Sam will be Sunday May 28th, 2023 with visitation starting at 2pm. The service will begin at 3pm with a reception to follow. We ask all attending to wear beautiful colors or Hawaiian shirts as they were Sam’s favorite attire.
The service will be at the Collierville Funeral Home @ 3663 Bailey Station Rd. Collierville, TN 38017.
