John Richard Dodson

John Richard Dodson passed away peacefully on November 14th 2024 at the age of 86 in Memphis TN. He is survived by Jean Barbara Dodson (wife of 60+ years); Garry John Dodson (son); Dianne Treat Dodson (daughter in law); and Madison Grace Jackson (granddaughter)

John was born in Pratt, Kansas on January 29th, 1938. His childhood in Kansas was spent in a farming community, where he learned the values of hard work and helping others. John was an Eagle Scout while growing up in Pratt. He graduated from University of Kansas with a degree in Engineering.

John spent the majority of his work career in the Aircraft Industry with long stints at Boeing, Eastern Airlines, and FedEx Corporation (retired).

He grew up flying model airplanes (which he shared with anyone wanting to learn) and eventually moved to a passion for personal computers and “figuring out how they functioned”.

John and Jean spent the last 36 years as residents of Germantown TN. They recently moved to The Farms at Bailey Station.

He was preceded in death by Garry L. Dodson (father); Dena P. Dodson (mother); David Dodson (brother); Darla Dodson (sister in law); Don Dodson (nephew).

John was a “Good Man”, who loved and provided for his wife and family.

A memorial gathering for John will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Collierville Funeral Home 3683 Bailey Station Rd, Collierville TN 38017. All friends and family are welcome.
