Alice Cronkhite, late of Collierville, Tennessee, aged 83, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023 with her loving children by her side. She was born on March 22, 1940 in Phillipi, West Virginia, the daughter of Waitman “Junior” and Ethel [nee Robinson] Gall, but relocated with her family to Bradenton, Florida in 1948. Alice graduated from Manatee County High School in 1958. In 1960, Alice met the love of her life on a blind date set-up by her best friend, as a double date. With a flash of his blue eyes, Gene Cronkhite captured the heart of Alice Gall. Alice and Gene were married in July 1961. Alice served as the founder and director of the St George’s Episcopal Church Preschool for several years. She was also a member of the Florida West Coast Symphony, playing the French horn. Gene and Alice followed their daughter to the Orlando, Florida area, where Alice worked for the Seminole County tax collector’s office in Casselberry, Florida, processing auto tags and titles. Throughout her life, she was active with her church, as an avid a choir member, and appeared on and off stage in theatrical productions. Alice is survived by their children, Catherine White and David Cronkhite, his wife, Jenny Cronkhite; a niece, Lee Bell Clayton; and three grandchildren, Ashley Cronkhite, David Cronkhite Jr., and Nathan Cronkhite. Alice requested immediate cremation. A Celebration of Life is planned for January in Collierville, Tennessee.
