Mr. Nicolae Morar

Mr. Nicolae Morar was living in North Richland Hills when he passed away at 100 years old, on January 13, 2022. He was born in Romania on July 17, 1921, then around 33 years later married Lelina in 1954.

Nicolae had a full life, as a young man he spent a year in a prison camp in the Soviet Union’s Ural Mountains. It was mighty cold in the winter of 1944-45 in those barracks with no heat – many of them froze to death in -40*F. After that, he lived in the prison camp of communist Romania. The whole country was a prison courtyard where one could roam about “freely”. The hardest things for him were to give up his horses to the communist farm, to lose his modest means for subsistence, and to depend completely on the communist state’s mercy.

Nicolae worked as a railroad goods inspector, but when he wasn’t working he enjoyed farming and gardening. He enjoyed basking in the Texas heat, sharing life with his family and his Baptist church friends. For the last 31 years, he enjoyed the freedom only the USA can offer, till God called him home.

In other words, “…but God!”

His faith in God, his love for work (he was a simple worker on God’s green earth), his thankfulness for what he had not wished to have, for his family will stay with us till eternity.

Nicolae is survived by his children: Helen Lucaci, Ana Callahan, and Traian Morar; his grandchildren: Ramona Lucaci, Daniel Callahan, Jonathan Callahan, and James Morar; and one great-grand child: David Callahan.

A visitation will be held Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd; Colleyville, TX 76034. The funeral service will be Monday, January 17, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
