He was born in Mendota, Illinois on May 23rd 1951.
He was married to his High School sweetheart, Denise Bartels, on June 16th 1973, and they just celebrated their 51st anniversary.
Mike started his 43 year career in 1972, in the food distribution industry, as a 3rd shift boxcar loader. Through the years, the company went through several prominent mergers and acquisitions on its way to becoming a multi-billion dollar company. Through that time, Mike was working his way up, eventually becoming Senior Vice President of Operations for North America, which is the title he held when he retired.
Michael was a very talented musician in High School. He was a multi-instrumentalist in the percussion category. He was proficient in a variety of genres and dominated Illinois High School competitions, winning first place for four consecutive years.
He was survived by his wife Denise, son Joseph and his wife Tammy, his daughter Sarah and her husband Brad, and his grandchildren Quinten and Margot.
He was also survived by his brothers, Bill and his wife Janis, Tom and his wife Mary, Jim, Dan and his wife Sue, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mike will be remembered for his infectious laughter and ability to find humor in everyday life. His departure leaves a huge void in our lives, a ton of great memories, and a few inside jokes that others will never understand, fondly remembered as "The Windex Wizard".
