John Quincy Adams was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio on November 17, 1936. He went to be with his beloved wife, Pat and cherished daughter, Cindy on January 21, 2024. Between those dates John's journey left an indelible mark on his family, friends, professional and philanthropic individuals who worked with or for him.
He left a legacy of dedication, caring leadership, strength and tenacity for so many.
John attended undergraduate schools in Ohio, and after high school Graduated from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio in 1958 with a B.A in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
He began his career as a drug store owner in Salina, Kansas. Afterwards, John started his career in Pharmaceutical Industry with Pitman Moore as a sales representative. Later he purchased assets from Pitman Moore to start his first pharmaceutical company, Baylor Laboratories.
After the acquisition of Baylor Laboratories in 1979 by Norwich Eaton, John started numerous successful companies in the pharmaceutical and real-estate/hospitality sectors. John would go on to the fund many private equity ventures in life sciences providing leadership, guidance and vision through the numerous Boards he was part of.
John and his beloved wife Pat founded the John and Patricia Adams Foundation in 2006, which provides capital for educational programs ranging from early childhood to Universities and Colleges. Through their Generosity focused on education, they have not only touched many lives, but made significant impact on their future.
One of John's proudest moments was having the school of business (Adams Hall) named in his honor at Heidelberg University, and the dedication ceremony he was able to share with his family and friends.
For all his success and accomplishments, what brought John the most joy in his life was the time spent with his family, 8 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and his ranches Chalk Mountain and Elk River, as well as his hunting adventures and many friends. John was quick to share his family stories with everyone whether they were academic, athletics or just him being so proud of the small things in life.
John, is survived by his children John and Vicki Adams, Sherri Adams and Gene Kasson, followed by 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and his siblings Frank Adams, Ann Keffer, Mary Van Steenbergh, and Chuck Adams.
He will be missed by so many of the lives he touched, but most by his Children, Grandchildren, and Great grandchildren.
