Jessie Lowry Andrews, 101, of Richland Hills passed away on November 18, 2023, peacefully in her sleep. Jessie was born in Dayton, Washington on July 13, 1922. She was the youngest of four children born to James L. Lowry and Zaleta Thompson. She graduated from Pietrzycki High School in Dayton Washington. Following graduation, Jessie worked for Boeing as a riveter during World War II. Jessie married Andy Andrews on October 3, 1944 after meeting him in Seattle.
Andy and Jessie settled in Richland Hills where they raised their family. Andy affectionately called Jessie “Rosie” for Rosie the Riveter.
They belonged to the sports car club, Competition Touring Club (CTC), for many years. They enjoyed entertaining, including an annual Christmas Eve Open House which brought family and friends together. Per Andy’s promise to Jessie, they traveled yearly to Washington to visit family.
After Andy’s passing, Jessie began volunteer work at Richland Hills Public Library and 30 plus years volunteer work at North Hills Hospital. She was honored as Volunteer of the Year at North Hills during her time of service. She also enjoyed traveling the United States with a senior citizen’s group.
Second to Andy, Jessie’s greatest love was her family. She was selfless, constant and steadfast in her commitment to her family. She leaves a legacy of love, generosity, and a healthy dose of fun. She truly was the best.
Jessie is preceded in death by her husband, Andy Andrews; parents, James and Zaleta Lowry; sisters, Dorthy Longgood and Evelyn Krous, and brother, Jimmy Lowry; sister-in-law, Thelma Condon; sons-in-law, Earl Ken Kelley and Donnie Lee Sullivan.
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Lynda Kelley of Rockwall and her sons, Scott Kelley (Elizabeth), Sean Kelley (Robyn); Jamie Sullivan of Fort Worth and her daughters, Kendra Holder (Kevin) and Traci Bear (Jason); seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
