Jay Don Hewitt, 89 of Keller, TX passed away peacefully on Friday morning Sept. 27, 2024. He was born on May 30, 1935, in Tonkawa OK. to Harry Lyle Hewitt and Ruth Rene Hewitt. His family moved to Corpus Christi, TX when he was five, where he grew up. He graduated from Sundeen High School, Corpus Christi TX. He married to Nita D. Sloan July 3, 1955.
He was preceded in death by Lyle Van Hewitt (son), Lew Vernon Hewitt (brother) his father Harry Lyle Hewitt and mother Ruth Rene Hewitt.
He is survived by his Wife Nita Hewitt, married 69 years, his daughter Deane A Winkle (Perry Winkle) and his two grandsons David Lyle Burlison and Justin Allen Winkle (Emily Winkle, children Nora and Noah Winkle) and a host of nieces and nephews and their children.
Jay Don mostly worked in the glass business and in 1978 with a partner, opened a successful commercial glass company in Dallas TX. Years later after selling the glass business and retiring, he decided to do what he always wanted to do. Which is his love of CARS! So he and his brother-in-law opened a used car lot in Fort Worth TX. Then several years later, that’s when he really did retire.
Jay was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. A good friend to all. He led his family with God in his life, he lived in Christ. He was a good Christian man, a treasure here on earth. He was the best one of a kind honorable man. A blessing to all who knew him. He was a man of integrity and honesty, he had strong principles and values. He will be dearly missed.
Services for Jay will be held on Tuesday, October 1st, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034. The family invites you to a reception and visitation at 1 p.m. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. and conclude with laying Jay to rest in the cemetery.
