James P. Liss Sr.

James Paul Liss Sr., of Hurst, Texas, passed away on January 9th, 2019 in Fort Worth , Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, friend and colleague to all that knew and loved him. He was born on March 4th, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Paul Joseph and Irma Yevone Allegoet Liss.

Jim graduated Lakeview High School, St. Clair Shores, Michigan in 1960. He was a Maintenance Supervisor for the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District for over 30 years. He loved his job and could do anything he set his mind too. He was loved by his peers and highly respected for his knowledge in mechanical engineering. Jim acquired a plethora of supervisory and technical training certificates during his long and rewarding career. His main hobby interests were working with wood and the many building projects he completed over a lifetime. He also enjoyed traveling and kept a map of all the States he visited. He was a kind and loving man who treated everyone with respect, not to mention his great sense of humor.

Jim is survived by his brother, Earl Liss of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, sister Pauline Van Peeren of Marine City, Michigan; daughter, Deanna Louise Brandenburg and husband Larry of Bedford, Texas; son’s James Paul Liss Jr. and wife Terri of Hurst, Texas; John Everts Liss of Hurst, Texas and long-time girlfriend Naomi Timmons of Watauga, Texas. Grandchildren, Megan Brooke Brandenburg of Weatherford, Texas; Jason and Amanda Liss of Hurst, Texas; along with numerous Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Joseph Liss and mother, Irma Yevone Allegoet Liss.

The visitation will be held from 6 – 8 o’clock p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at 3 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Universal Hospice located at 5651 Bridge Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76112 and/or The American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers are; Earl Liss, Jim Liss Jr., John Liss, Theal Shadden, Roger Daniel, Mitchell Huddleston. Honorary Pallbearer is Larry Brandenburg.
