H. Wayne Clowers was born on November 11th, 1943 in Bedford, Texas to his parents Cecil and Ida Mae Clowers. He was the youngest of eight children. Wayne attended the Historic Bedford School and received his high school diploma in 1962 from L.D. Bell High School. In 1966 he received his Bachelor's from Arlington State College. On June 17th, 1966, he married the love of his life, Penny Fulk. He would go on to receive his masters from NTSU in 1972. Wayne, known to many as Mr. Clowers, was a dedicated math teacher, having taught for 40 years. Many years of that career was spent teaching at Carter Riverside High School from 1976 to 2003.
Wayne was very active in his communities. In Bedford he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Park Board. In Haltom City, he served on the Beautification Commission and was an Election Judge. Wayne was an active Democrat.
Wayne had a passion for all things wood: carpentry, cabinet making, wood turning, and wood carving. He was a member of the Wood Turners of North Texas and was very generous in gifting the projects he'd been working on. Wayne was an active and faithful member of Riverside Advent Christian Church.
Wayne passed away peacefully at home, in Haltom City, on July 22nd, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ida; sisters Dorthea Brisbon, Frances Knight, and Joyce Courtney; brothers Cecil Clowers, Jr., Wilburn Clowers, and Jimmy Dale Clowers; and several nieces and nephews.
He is survived and will be remembered by his wife Penny Clowers of Haltom City, TX; his sister, Judy Smith of Richardson, TX; his sister-in-law Joyce Clowers of Haltom City TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made to NEED- Northeast Emergency Distribution, 5028 Broadway Haltom City, TX 76117.
Wayne's services will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034. Visitation will be on July 31st from 5-7. His funeral will be held the next day, August 1st, at 11 a.m. and he will be laid to rest following the service.
