Frances Louise Hogue

Rising from material poverty but spiritual wealth, Frances Higgins Hogue became a bank assistant vice-president before her retirement in 1984. She strived diligently to assure that her children had all of what they needed and most of what they wanted. Her first loyalty was always to her family, and she was her children’s most loyal fan. Playing volleyball until her early 50s, she shamed many women her junior with her competitive spirit and energy. Only she knows for sure why her friends called her “Sacky” while she attended Carroll School. Her friends found this introvert very warm and trustworthy, and her family found her honorable and caring. If there is one thing we know from the victorious life she lived, it is that she was a survivor. She survived The Depression, poverty as a child, breast cancer, and multiple strokes in later life that rendered her able to verbalize only a few words; nevertheless, she communicated her love and personality through her smile to the end of her life. She joined the Lord on November 21, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. E.T. Higgins, her brother, Weldon T. (Red) Higgins, her daughter-in-law, Janice Dunn Hogue, and her husband of 60 years, William Perry Hogue. She is survived by three children: Nellva Underwood (Pete) of Garland, Texas, Douglas Hogue (Melba) from Flower Mound, Texas, and Carla Graves from Highland, Illinois; Four grandchildren: Leigh Underwood Phelps (Tim) from McKinney, Texas, Libby Underwood Draughon (Kenyon) from Ransom Canyon, Texas, Leston Underwood from Carrollton, Texas, and Kyle Hogue (Randi) from Lewisville, Texas; Six great grandchildren: Parker Phelps (Chelsea) from Norfolk, Virginia, Breanna Phelps Reeves (Marshall) from McKinney, Texas, Davis and Will Draughon from Ransom Canyon, Texas, Ella Underwood from Carrollton, Texas and Jessie Hogue from Lewisville, Texas; One great, great grandchild: Preston Phelps from Norfolk, Virginia.
