Christine is survived by her husband Edward Andrews, son Alexander Andrews and siblings Carl, Martha, Nicholas Jr., Pauline and Caroline.
Christine was born in Accra Ghana on October 9th 1967, to Rev Dr Nicholas Clerk and Mrs. Grace Clerk (both deceased). She graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 1993 with an MD degree. In 1997 she received a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London. She was awarded a PhD in Public Health from the same university as a Gates Malaria Program Scholar in 2007.
Christine worked for several years as a clinical researcher as well as in academia. Her career included positions at health research centers in Ghana, the University of Ghana and PATH, a Global Health Institution in Seattle. She has authored several research papers related to adolescent health, HIV in pregnant women and the prevention of malaria. She also mentored several researchers.
In 1998 she married her college sweetheart Edward Andrews. Christine was a devoted mother to her son Alexander. She was a great cook and enjoyed travelling both for pleasure and for work.
She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.
