Mr. Charles Wiley Montgomery, Jr, age 89, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Creekside Villas Assisted Living in Murfreesboro, TN. He was born on March 3, 1929 in Mer Rouge, LA to the late Charles Wiley Montgomery, Sr. and Elise Vaughan Montgomery.
Charles graduated from Mer Rouge High School in 1946 and Louisiana Tech in 1950. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree and went on to serve as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. After his honorable discharge from active duty he spent 20 years in agri-business in Northeast Louisiana and later in west Texas before moving to Houston, Texas in 1964. He entered the commercial real estate brokerage business and ultimately formed his own company, CM Realty Inc. In 1965 Charles married Nelda Jean Bell, the love of his life. In 1997 they retired and moved from Houston to the Texas hill country where they spent their retirement years in the community of Briarcliff, TX. Following Nelda’s death in 2008, Charles moved to Murfreesboro, TN to live close to his brother, Russell, and his family. Charles was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro.
