In 1943 the family moved to Buffalo, New York, where he attended high school and later the University of Buffalo. An avid golfer and excellent bowler, Chuck was an Army veteran and extremely patriotic to his country. He joined Bell Aircraft Corporation in March 1953 and then transferred to Bell Helicopter Fort Worth in 1957.
In 1971, Chuck married Dru Woodside and was blessed with her two children, Shelle and Chad, whom he loved dearly and raised as his own. Their best supporter at every activity, he could always be heard cheering them on. He was so proud of them and the adults they have become and was a proud Papaw to each and every one of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Chuck loved his Lord, his church and his church family. He was an active member of William C. Martin United Methodist Church for 40 years, where he served faithfully in many areas and where he and Dru have been members of the Apple Corps Sunday school class.
In 1990, Chuck retired as Director of Compensation and Benefits, contributing 38 years of loyalty to Bell Helicopter. In retirement, Chuck and Dru enjoyed traveling the United States in their motorhome and being charter members of their motorhome club, making lifelong friends along the way. He loved packing up that motorhome and hitting the road! He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a season ticket holder for many years. He loved New York hot dogs and ordered them frequently -you considered yourself lucky if he shared them with you!
Survivors: Dru, his loving wife of 47 years; son Chad Woodside (Debbie); daughter Shelle Woodside Womack; grandchildren Brandon (Desiree), Hailey (Stephen), Lauren (Jen), Ami (Darious) and Ashlee; and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
