Betty B. Hazlewood, 87, a long-time resident of the Hurst area, passed away on Wednesday,December 21st, 2016. Born May 19th, 1929 in Dublin, TX, Betty grew up in the hard times of the Depression on a farm and never backed away from hard work. She worked as an Accountant at Bell Helicopter Textron beginning in the 1950’s and retiring in 1990. During the 1980s, while working at Bell, she and Jim ran a cattle ranch outside of Sanger Texas. Betty was a no-nonsense, direct, tell you like it is person. If she wanted to do something, she did it, if she did not, there was no talking her into it. It was always pretty clear how she stood on an issue. Betty loved to sit on the porch, smoke and tell stories of her youth. Those stories are stored in our hearts until we meet again. The daily 10 o’clock phone call to discuss the latest weather report, local news and just catch up was a wonderful way to keep in touch and make sure everything was okay with Mom. We treasured that daily communication and already miss her dearly. She is survived by her daughter Lisa (Monty) Anderson; granddaughter Misty (Mike) Phy; and two great grandchildren Bella and Becks.
