Tyree Thomas, 76, of College Station, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan. Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Alexander United Methodist Church in the Tabor Community with Reverend Sam Cutrone officiating. Burial will follow at Alexander United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Tyree was born August 14, 1939 in Wellborn, Texas to his parents, Edward Lee Townsend and James Thomas. He graduated from Lincoln High School in College Station and soon joined the United States Army. After leaving the Army, Tyree returned to Wellborn before moving to Houston. There, he met the love of his life, Ruby Lee Jackson, and they were married on September 9, 1960. He and his new bride returned to College Station in 1961 to start their family, celebrating over 55 years of marriage. Tyree went to work for Alenco (Redman Industries) in Bryan and retired as Shipping Forman after 34 years of faithful service. He loved fishing, playing golf, bowling, and softball, and played on several Bowling Leagues and Softball Teams, especially for Alenco. He and his wife are faithful members of the Alexander United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Ruby Thomas of College Station; two sons Michael Thomas and his wife Ingrid of Luxembourg, Europe and Rodrick Thomas of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Chenea Thomas of Chesapeake, Virginia and Tiffany Thomas of Fresno, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Darlton and Imogene Thomas of Houston; one sister, James Lillian Sabbs of Bryan; and eight grandchildren, Lyndsey Schroeder, Clay Schroeder, Kai Thomas, Kiana Thomas, Joshua Holmes, Megan Holmes, Lastasha Thomas, and Dustyn Thomas.
