Mimi was born August 4, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas the daughter of William A. and Jacqueline (Alford) Campbell. Her father died serving during WWII, when his ship was torpedoed in the Mediterranean Sea. Following graduation from W.B. Ray High School, Corpus Christi, Darleen attended Texas A&I, Kingsville (TAMUK). While there she met Earl L. Morris and they married May 30, 1963. She completed her education at Texas A&M University. She graduated as one of (if not the) first undergraduate female to receive her BA in education after A&M became coed. Darleen was a member of the Legacy Women of Texas A&M University. She received her degree as Earl received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Together they reared 3 children. Darleen was a homemaker, who took pride in her home, spending countless hours decorating and gardening. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a Christian lady, and a Godly example for all. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she and Earl taught the 3 year old Sunday school for 17 years. Darleen’s arms were always open to children. She was a Mimi to many and loved each child as though they were her own. She was a true beauty inside and out. She was selfless always putting others first, loved unconditionally, full of grace and walked by her faith. Her smile was infectious, her words were always encouraging and her heart was true of gold. She loved serving the Lord, and had the gift of hospitality. Her many talents showed through wonderful meals, needle point, crocheting and quilting. She was a member of the Tuesday morning quilting class at church. Her gifting to serve others showed in the numerous quilts she made to donate to children services locally and her family members. It was her delight to see the happiness that the quilts brought. Darleen touched so many lives during her time on earth.
