William “Andy” Anderson passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2024 at his home in Caldwell, TX. Born July 24th, 1956 in St. Louis, MO, he was the third-oldest sibling and the only brother to six sisters. In 1969, the family moved to Bryan, TX and Andy graduated from Bryan High School in 1974. He later attended the Institute of Electronic Science, a division of Texas A&M University, graduating in 1986 as a certified electronic technician.
Andy married Maryellen Reid in 1978 and together, they raised three children in College Station, TX. Shortly after Maryellen’s passing in 2000, he carried out their dream, building the forever home and ranch in Caldwell. Andy loved all things ranching but especially drinking his coffee on the porch and watching his cow’s graze. He enjoyed Westerns, socializing with friends, campfires with guitars, and spending time with his family. Many long weekends were spent fishing at the lake, listening to classic rock while swimming or playing cornhole – always ending with Andy frying that weekend’s catch. If you ask his grandkids, they’ll tell you “Pa-pa” was a bull rider, race car driver, airline pilot, NFL football player, World Series of Poker winner, and even an astronaut! He was a terrific storyteller with endless imagination, laughter, and a heart as big as Texas.
Andy is survived by his mother Hazel Ann Nelson of Farmington, MO; son Brandon Anderson and wife Amy of Allen, TX; daughter Ellie Brown and husband Buddy of Caldwell, TX; five grandkids, Garrett, Aaden, Kason, Kaely and Harly; his sisters Susan Spears and husband Mark of Bryan, TX; Beth Haferkamp and husband Mike of Navasota, TX; Kay Hackworth of Irondale, MO; Joanie Nelson of Desloge, MO; Barbara Duhon and husband Mike of Tomball, TX; numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends. His most adored lasting cows are #41, #40, #33, Suzy, Big Red, and #50.
He is preceded in death by his wife Maryellen, son Nolan, father William Anderson, stepfather Bill Nelson and sister Dinah Leigh Anderson. Also, his late dogs Shoogar and Abby.
Special thanks to his dear friend, Linda Ellis, whose compassion and support comforted Andy while he fought his yearlong battle with cancer.
A visitation will be held at 2pm, followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 3pm on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at Dignity Memorial in College Station, TX. In honor of Andy’s style, the family encourages country casual attire and asks that you share your favorite memories of Andy. Andy's family will hold a private burial at the College Station City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Andy would love nothing more than for you to enjoy a steak dinner or plan a vacation with your respective families.
