Joseph Clayton Root

Joseph Clayton Root, age 74, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on December 4, 2024. Clayton was a graduate of Woodward Academy, formerly known as Georgia Military Academy, and went on to attend West Point.

Preceded in death by his loving parents Francis H. “Rocky” Root and Kathleen C. Root. A beloved brother, Clayton is survived by his two sisters, Beverly Lamar and Linda Shepherd. He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who brought him immense joy.

Clayton enjoyed the outdoors including birdwatching and playing with and spoiling the dogs with his nephew Matt, whom he fondly referred to as his "buddy." Their bond was a source of comfort and companionship for both of them. Matt, through his faithful love and dedication to his buddy made sure Clayton had all his heart desired.

Clayton worked for many years in men's clothing stores, where he built lasting relationships with loyal customers, ending his career at the Men’s Warehouse. His genuine care and attention to detail made him a favorite and his work was a testament to his commitment to providing excellent service.

Clayton loved a good meal, sweets, Moxie Soda, and his all day Coffee. He loved to share treats with his family and friends.

Clayton's spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Graveside service for Clayton will be held Monday, December 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens 5755 Mallory Rd, Atlanta, GA 30349.
