Alvin Wayne Allen was born July 9, 1942 and entered into eternal life on September 28, 2023. Wayne was born in Cleburne County, Alabama to Lee and Ruth Allen. Early in life, he was raised by Sam and Zona Bevill. As a young man, he was raised by Ralph and Zona Nichol in Cedartown, Georgia. Wayne graduated from Cedartown High School in 1960.
After graduating, Wayne served in the Army National Guard for six years. In 1964 he married his sweetheart, Sandra Diane White and began a 30 year career with Delta Airlines. Wayne also worked many years after retiring from Delta with the Clayton County Sheriff's Department as part of courthouse security.
Wayne was a member of the Riverdale Masonic Lodge #709, Riverdale Eastern Star Chapter #446 and Temple United Methodist Church.
Family and friends knew that Wayne enjoyed playing piano and acoustic guitar as well as singing. He spent many years performing with the Riverdale Travelers. Wayne was a man of Christian faith and he loved singing gospel songs most of all. Those who knew Wayne will remember him as a loving family man with a kind nature and a great sense of humor.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandra. He is also survived by his daughters Keri Allen (Charles Ray) and Wendy Crank. Wayne had one granddaughter, Valerie Elizabeth-Rose Crank, whom he absolutely adored and lovingly called her TeddyBear. His survivors also include sister- in-laws and brother- in-laws: Myra Allen, Brenda White, Linda and Mike Almond, Toni and Mike Wallace as well as many special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to The Shriners Hospital for Children.
A visitation for Alvin will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, Georgia 30349. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, Georgia 30349.
