Uncle Brenson I have been putting this off for awhile now, it's very hard for me to sit here and type this. I miss and love you so much. I think about you often especially when we play cards, I sometimes feel you are there with us. I dont remember a lot of my childhood but I always remember all the times being in the hospital when you worked there and you would always come see me and give me a big hug and kiss. You will always be in my heart and thoughts, it was very hard to say goodbye and I still dont want to, so i will say i love you and i will see you again, keep watching over us.

This is one of the hardest things I have had to write. You never think about a parent passing away and if you do think about it you don’t realize how hard it will be for you when they are gone. I still find myself looking for phone calls or I think about making a phone call to Pops. I love my Dad very much and missing him a lot already. But when I think of him there are so many things that run through my head that make me laugh and cry.
Pops, I want you to know that you were a great dad, I know that everyone says that about their dads. But In the next few sentences I will help you and everyone reading this know why. The first thing that comes to mind is how you raised me. I know it’s hard to believe I am saying this and that many times we have bumped heads. But I know that I could not be the man, husband and dad I am today if it was not for you, of course I cannot give all the credit to you Pops, mom had a great deal to do with it too. Pops you could give one of those looks that you knew you were in trouble when you got home, but the one thing I remember most about getting in trouble with you is when I lied about skipping school. When it all came out and I was standing in front of you and mom, all I could think was, “I about to get the spanking of a life time.” To my dismay, that did not happen. You looked me in the face and said I can never trust you again son and walked away. I had never been so ashamed in my life and I vowed to never to disappoint you like that again. To this day I take lying very serious and would rather tell the truth than to ever hear those words again.
One of my favorite things to think about is your sense of humor. When you laughed it was contagious. But of course it would get that much funnier when you would laugh so hard that you would stiffen up and toot. Which just made me want to make you laugh that much more.

My favorite thing about your sense of humor is the way we could pick at one another. Who could sit and say that calling their dad a loser or zero and he find it funny but of course along with that joke Vern and I got the nicknames Dead Eye One and Two. You took that joke so far that you and Uncle Lamar made a song about it. I’ll never forget you watching T.V. and you seeing a commercial about Zorro and you stood up and yelled out Zero!!!! Which Vern and I just had to give you the nickname zero and every time I got the chance I would buy you a zero candy bar. 
I can also remember you and Uncle Lamar driving up to all of us and laughing saying we were in trouble and made fun of us all the way back to the house where our mothers were standing with a belt and spanked each one of us. You could always find humor in life (we may not always found humor in it) and loved to pick at people and situations but for what you dished out you were willing to take in return.
Another thing Pops used to do and do well is tell stories of his childhood and remember funny things that happen in life. I loved hearing you tell stories about the BB gun wars you and your bother had or how ya’ll would pick on one another. You even told these stories as you laid in the hospital and making everyone laugh in such a gloomy time. My favorite story you told though was how you made tuna casserole for David Park, Tiffany Park, Jennifer Park, Stephen Park, Sabrina and myself. You sat us all down at the table and told us we were not to get up from the table ‘til we ate it all. All I could think was where is mom, but as we all sat there and looked at the nasty stuff and trying to get Stephen to eat because he would eat anything but of course he would not eat this. I’ll never forget when you walked into the dining room and said y’all can get up. Which later finding out in a story you tell about this, that you took one bite and it tasted so nasty that you spit it out in your plate.

I could go on and on about all the wonderful stories you told. The great thing is I can tell those very stories to my children and let them see how great of a man their grandfather is.
The main thing I want you to know Pops is I love you and I am very proud to call you Dad and that even if you did not realize, I saw all the little things you and mom did to give me and Bri a great life. I know that you and mom gave up a lot to give Bri and I the things we wanted. But nothing compares to the time you were willing to give in being my dad. I’ll never forget playing football and knowing that all I had to do is look over at the fence line and there you stood my biggest fan. Thank you and I will always treasure and miss those moments in life.

R.i.p carrot top you was such amazing man your smiles was wonderful i remember seeing you when you was working at the hospital i said carrot top you told me i couldnt call you carrot cause your hair wasnt red no more love you man.

I’ll forever miss that familiar Broome twinkle you usually had in your eyes that always shown brighter whenever you glanced at Aunt Kathy, your mischievous grin and the sound of your laughter (especially if you beat your brothers in cards). I have so many happy memories of sitting around a card table with my dad and uncles . . . so much love and laughter shared. I’m sure you are in heaven doing exactly that right now. (Give my daddy a hug for me). I love you Uncle Brenson.

I wish I could tell you this in person, but unfortunately life and work are in the way of getting free to come see you, so I hope you see this... 

I’m never going to forget your laugh and how sometimes you’d laugh so hard it would hurt. Or how you’d kick my butt in chess, or risk, or any other game we played, because damnit you were good at all of them. You were always good to me, even though looking back I probably was a bit of a headache to you at times, and for that I’m grateful. You’re a great man, husband, father, grandfather, and the coolest uncle. Thank you for everything, I love you man, and you’ll be with me forever. Give my regards to Elvis.

Brenson, I always laughed and smiled when I was around you. You radiated such love for everyone.  I loved that you had a nickname for everyone.  You were the only one in my life that I allowed to call me "Gladys", but that's okay because you were my CARROT Top. I love you so much and will miss your laughter and your presence. Thank you for being such an awesome brother in-law and wonderful husband to my sister.


I love you, I remember all the great times I spent with you, all the summers I would stay over as a kid. I remember all the fun projects we used to do, I remember when we used to play cards and talked. You were a big part of my life and still are today, I regret the times I was unable to come see you, I think the biggest regret would be that I didn't get to say goodbye.  I know one day we'll meet again until that day, you will not be far out of my mind but forever in my heart, but now its time to celebrate your life and recount the good. I love you uncle Brenson rest in heaven 😞

What Pops loved the most!  Playing cards surrounded by family!

Pops, I didn’t have nearly enough time with you to make all the memories a daughter-in-law should have with her father-in-law.  I remember when we first met.  It was somewhat awkward since your son was asking me to marry him and we had never met in person.  It gave my heart great joy to see that from the moment you all arrived that it seemed like our families had known each other for years.  Your laugh was contagious and your smile was heartwarming.  Everyone around couldn’t help but laugh and smile with you.  Playing cards with you and seeing your joy and happiness will forever be etched in my mind. The times seeing you with my dad and playing cards with him and you calling him “your buddy” because he always gave you what you needed.  I am going to miss hearing that!  And the time we left you two alone to take the kids to the beach and we came back and you both were taking a nap.  We just couldn’t leave you two alone!  I deeply regret we will not be able to take you all the places we wanted to show you and experience with you.  I know when we do go, you will be with us in spirit and will get to experience it with us, but it will not be the same as we will not have you there taking pictures to capture all of life’s precious moments with us and sharing your smile and laughter.  Thank you for the wonderful grandfather you were to the girls.  I wish they had more time with you.  And Maggie (your Cutie Pie), although she is too young to remember her time with you, we will never let her forget you.  We will always tell her the stories of her Pops.  Laney misses you terribly, too.  I miss you, Pops.  Be with us all and watch over us until we meet again.

Eulogy For Thomas Brenson Broome

Heaven: the final frontier. This is our voyage. Our mission: seek everlasting life.
 To boldly go where all saved men have gone. Star date 4/27/2018; Thomas Brenson Broome Sr. is  called to his final mission. We are assembled here today to pay final respects to Brenson. And yet it should be noted that in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life. 
Brenson believed in God and that by being saved by the blood of Christ; he was just moving on into that final frontier.
Brenson was a man that truly enjoyed having family and friends around him. I focus for a second and I can clearly hear that great laugh of his; almost as if he were standing next to me laughing. He loved playing games especially card games. I think he loved cards so much because it brought people together laughing, joking and just having fun. It also created everlasting jokes and stories to tell on each other.       ( knock) Kathy and Becky. 
He also love watching movies. He could tell you about every one he watched. He loved Elvis and his music. One of his great moments was when he went to Graceland. His face lit up when he told people about his trip to Graceland.He loved to take pictures and assemble them into albums to create the stories of that moment and time, and we have all enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane this week with those albums and look at how much we have changed through the years!
We all need to take the que from Brenson and remember to enjoy this life you have. We need to set aside time each day to enjoy only if it is 30 minutes at the end of the day to do something that brings you joy; whether it is cozying down to a book, movie, reading a bedtime story to the kids or just putting up your feet with a cup of hot tea or coffee or playing a hand of cards. 
Brenson final words would have been that he loved us dearly and to live long and prosper!

Thank you for all of the many blessings and fantastic days and nights we had as a family.  In some ways I had never experienced, so thank you for all of my memories to this date with you in them.  You mean the world to me living or gone. But may you rest in peace.... I love you and will see you again and have our shots one day again......✌✌✌

Brenson, you were always ready to play cards. Spent hours playing cards and other games with you. I can't remember a day you weren't always having fun with Rose and myself when we were Young we went to movies with you, played hide and seek. Always in my life.

We shared our lives for over 42 years together. You held my hand, you held my heart. You are forever loved, you will forever be my beloved. I will always miss coming home from school or work and you'd always have a big smile on your face and would ask me well how was your  day  
I love you pawpaws I'm gonna miss but we will see each other again one day 

When i would always come over for vacation or spring break or something, right when i walked in you would already have the cards dealed out and were ready to play no matter what, and win or lose you would always be happy because you family was together. But when you did win you would always call me a winney baby or a cry baby and it was hilarious to watch you laugh at your jokes and i wish every time i go back it would be the same. i love you so much and you will always be a big part of my life.

You babysit Sheryl and I. We would sit on the hood of your car at the drive in, watching R rated movies and eating popcorn. You would always from and say" don't tell sis."

Brenson, you were such a great part of my family and I miss u already. I loved visiting and playing cards, talking and laughing, especially yours and u saying u did not want no stinking fours! I loved  being your sister in law for all these years and will always remember u with a smile on my face. Love forever, shirley.

Brenson, I so enjoyed meeting u and being a good friend and bringing me into your wonderful family.  I miss u and want you to know that I loved our time together and will always remember you.
