Robert Lee Smithson

Robert Lee was survived by his wife of 36 years Linda A. Smithson, Children Debie and Morgan Smithson. Mother-in-law (Gram) Mary Elizabeth Sabo. Sister Cozette (Max) Smith, Niece Melissa (Paul) Ambrose, Nieces Harlee Ambrose, Sharde (Jake) Jensen, Nephew Wyatt Ambrose. Brother Elmer Leroy (Janet) Smithson, Nieces Stephanie, Julie, Nephews Bill, Bob and their families. Dear friends Kimmie (Marc & Jocelyn) Sylvester, Joe Hank (Aurora, Chase) Dorman, Dave (Mary) Winn, Larry (Edna) Reagan, Ellen (Mark) Wilhelm. Panzer his loyal and loving dog.

After graduating from South Gate High School, Robert Lee proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958-1964. He then attended California Polytechnic State University, graduating with his Architectural Engineering degree in 1970. In the early 70’s he started his career as Cryogenics Engineer for Lockheed Martin working on the shuttle program. Which took him to Florida in the 1986 where he met his wife, Linda. He put his Architectural degree to good use building his dream home in Cocoa in 1991 and in 2007 he built several condominiums in Cape Canaveral. He stayed with the Shuttle program until he retired from United Space Alliance in 2011.

Robert Lee was a man with many talents from always being the class clown to a very talented Jeweler. Making one-of-a-kind pieces for many family members and friends over the years. He loved fishing, boating, the ocean, sculpting, joking, and spending time with his family and friends. His quick wit and humor will be missed by all.

A visitation for Robert will be held Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 North Us Highway 1, Cocoa, FL 32927.

Funeral services will occur Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brevard Memorial Park, 320 Spring St. Cocoa, FL 32927.

A committal service will occur Monday, February 13, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Hwy 1, Mims, FL 32754.
