Richard Michael Dunn, known as “Ricky” to his friends and family, died on Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Orlando, Florida after a lengthy illness. He was 66 years old. Ricky was born on September 8, 1952 in Camden, Arkansas to Wallace Dunn and Virginia Brooks Dunn, both of whom preceded him in death. Ricky and his wife Connie resided in Cocoa, Florida for the last several years of his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Ricky graduated from Camden High School in 1970 and later attended Southern Arkansas University Tech. He lived with his family for many years in Natchitoches, Louisiana while working as a Quality Auditor for APA – The Engineered Wood Association. He retired from APA in 2006. Ricky loved photography and spending time outdoors, and he especially loved to fish.
For several years, Ricky served on the Louisiana Film Commission after his appointment by the governor of the state. He also served as a director for the Southern Film Institute. During the years he and his family resided in Montana, Ricky worked with several cinematography students from Montana State University’s School of Film and Photography program, assisting them with student productions.
Ricky is survived by his wife of many years, Connie Walker Dunn of Cocoa, Florida; one daughter, Leah Dunn Witman (Jerry) of Clermont, Florida; two sons, Erik Dunn of Louisville, Kentucky and Richard Dunn of Davenport, Florida; one sister, Angela Hodges of Camden, Arkansas and one brother, John Dunn of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Ricky is also survived by four grandchildren: Elijah Witman and Sophia Witman of Clermont, Florida; and Bailey Dunn and Hadley Dunn of Louisville, Kentucky. Ricky was very proud of each and every one of his children and grandchildren, and they brought great joy to his life.
A private remembrance day for the immediate family will be held at a later date. The family would like to encourage Ricky’s friends to make memorial donations to the Colon Cancer Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
