Matt was born in 1963, in Bedford, Indiana to Earl & Peggy Reasoner, both of whom are deceased. Earl’s second wife, Kay, came into Matt’s life when he was still very little. Kay has always been “Mom” to Matt.
Matt was one of 12 kids, which meant the home was full of life, full of noise, full of laughter and fun.
Five of the twelve predeceased him: Terry, Brad, Ursula, Bruce and Trent.
He is survived by his Mom, along with Rowena, Mark, Roch, Eric, Keven & Kurt, and nieces and nephews too numerous to name.
Following high school, Matt went into the Air Force, where he learned the trade that allowed him to have a career in the space program at NASA. He was a mechanic by trade, and he fixed anything for anybody. I used to call him the gas station attendant for the Shuttle, (and all of the other things they launch from there.) He liked to say: “You can’t leave Earth without me.” He loved his job. And he worked with some of the same guys who were in the Air Force with him.
In his free time, Matt loved to work on Volkswagens. (or any car that was not computerized) If it was mechanical, he could fix it. He loved to help others, so he spent more time on other people’s projects than his own.
He also loved the beach, and surfed for as long as he physically could.
But mostly, Matt loved people (especially children). He would stop any project or job to play with children. And he was always the first one to shoot straw wrappers in a restaurant. He would dip his grandson’s pacifier into Mountain Dew, and open up sugar packets for his granddaughter to eat. He never wanted to “grow up”.
Matt had an amazing gift for seeing the best in anybody. Through their eyes, he could see into their soul. He knew how to bring out the best in them, and make it look like it was their idea. “Cute and charming” was how he went through his life, able to “sweet talk” anybody into anything.
Matt is also survived by his wife, Cheri Kluesener, 4 adult children: Kelsey (Greg) Williams, Katie (Christopher) Brooking, Dylan Reasoner and Samantha Reasoner, and 6 grandchildren: Tallon, Zander, Tanner, Emma, Zoey & Isabelle.
