Mary Frances Keeling Boggs

Mary Frances was born July 13, 1925, to Col. Roy Eldon and Alleen Rose Keeling in Galveston, Texas. After graduating from Ball High School, she attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, where she met V.E. Boggs, whom she married July 7, 1943, in Galveston. They raised their family in Lake Jackson, which became their life-long home. They were founding members of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, where Mary Frances became involved with Sunday school and enjoyed it so much that she soon made a career of teaching young children.

In 1967, Mary Frances founded Mrs. Boggs' Pre-School, and was the owner of the Lake Jackson and Angleton schools until 2009. She highly valued education, loved children, and was able to give many of them a solid foundation for their early school years. She often talked fondly of the many remarkable teachers with whom she had worked and all the sweet children she felt privileged to have taught.

Mary Frances was involved in many civic activities. She served 4 years on the State Board of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and on the Galveston County ASYC. She was a founding member of the Lake Jackson Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), in which she was active for nearly 60 years. She was blessed to be able to make lifelong friendships with her chapter sisters and watch her chapter grow.

She enjoyed a Diet Dr. Pepper every day and the occasional bowl of Blue Bell to help cool her down from the hot Texas summer sun.

Mary Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, V.E.; parents, Col. Roy Eldon and Alleen Keeling; daughter, Coryne Branch; sister, Evelyn Mathews; and brother, Bill Keeling.

She is survived by her daughters, Mollie Greenlaw and husband Reid, and Stephanie Neal and husband Shane; son, Michael Boggs and wife Hayde; and son-in-law, Charles Branch and wife Glenda.

Mary Frances dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom she was blessed. Grandchildren include Courtney Greenlaw, Chad Branch, Cicely Branch Nelson, Chase Neal, Candace Brown, Natascha Boggs and Michael Boggs; great grandchildren, Chloe Mayfield, Jolee Branch, Mason Nelson, Addilyn Sue and Abigail Grace Neal; and pseudo great grandchildren, Anthony Guerra, Cort Tipps and Jessie Connell.

Mary Frances will be greatly missed, but is now having a grand reunion celebrating with the family and friends who awaited her in heaven with our heavenly Father.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, November 30 at Dignity Restwood Memorial Funeral Home.
