Kay T. Giles, age 86, of Brazoria, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 19, 2024 and is now present with our loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Special thanks go out to Angel Care Hospice for their professional helping hands and generosity. Thank you to all family members as well.
Kay was drum majorette of Brazosport High School Band and graduated in 1955. She was always active in sports from basketball, volleyball, and bowling. She was also a lifeguard and gave swimming lessons at the YMCA. She and her husband, Tommy, had the Olympia Health Studio which opened in the early 70’s where they both instructed every member in their own individual exercise program.
Later in life, Kay enjoyed working with the CBISD Transportation Department for 20+ years. She received the Columbia-Brazoria ISD Special Appreciation Award for her hard work and dedication. Kay always offered a helping hand wherever she could, from bussing the elderly in nursing homes, to providing a safe place during hurricane season, and for helping build floats for parades. Unfortunately, in her eyes, she had to retire at 83.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Tengler and Emma Tengler; husband, John T. Suggs Jr; husband, Wayne Giles; brother, Terry Tengler; and her son, John T. Suggs III.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Kay Suggs; daughter in law, Cindy S. Maddoletti; five grandchildren, Ryan Louis Oakes, Lara kay Oakes, John T. Suggs IV, Shauna Coller, and Adrian Copeland; eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donation be made to Angel Care Hospice in Bay City, TX.
A celebration of life will be held in the Mausoleum Chapel of Restwood Memorial on May 3, 2024 at 10:30 AM.
