Jerry Troy Grimes, devoted husband, father, grandfather, proud Marine, and friend to many passed away on February 14, 2023 in Lake Jackson, Texas. Jerry was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and is preceded in death by his father Gerald Troy Grimes, his mother Janie Valadez, his sister Judy England, and his uncle Joe Valadez.
Jerry was a devoted husband and father. He was married to the love of his life, Mirthala “Marla” Grimes for 37 years. Jerry eventually built a home, mostly himself, and he and Marla lived together in Wild Peach Village, in Brazoria County,Texas where they raised their family. Jerry and Marla have two daughters, the eldest–Crystal, and a few years later, their daughter Daisy was born. Jerry was extremely proud of his daughters and was overjoyed to see them have families of their own.
Jerry has 4 grandchildren: Kaydence (by Crystal), Troy and Blair (by Daisy), and Abby (through son-in-law Mike).
Jerry had very special and close relationships with his daughter’s companions, Gabe (Crystal) and Mike (Daisy), and developed a strong bond of friendship with them over the years.
Jerry loved his brother and sister in-laws, nieces, and nephews who all loved him dearly as well. He worked at S&B Engineers and Constructors for many years and was a respected inspector.
Jerry loved to cook, hunt, fish, and spend time at his ranch in Rock Springs. He loved to share these passions of his with his family and friends.
He was proud to be a Marine and didn’t hesitate to share his pride in serving his country. Jerry loved the Cowboys and never missed a game. His friends number in the several hundreds and all of them have shared fond memories with him over the years.
A visitation for Jerry will be held Monday, February 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Dr, Clute, Texas 77531. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, 401 Yaupon St, Lake Jackson, TX 77566, followed by a graveside service at Restwood Memorial Park.
