The oldest of two sons, Bill grew up in Chowchilla, California on the Galley Family Ranch along side his parents and younger brother James Robert Galley (Bobby).
He graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1953 and, after, attended Fresno City College acquiring an associate’s degree.
Bill worked for Bank of America and the family Flying A gas station before meeting his soon to be bride, Linda Frantz, in 1964. In 1965 Bill began working in San Francisco for Pacific Airlines and married Linda that same year.
They both lived in San Mateo, California while he worked there before moving to Fresno, California in 1966. Linda giving birth to their only child, William Douglas, in April of 1968.
Working for the Airline required the family to move frequently and after Fresno they lived in Arizona, San Diego, Fresno again, and Bill retired in 1997 in Memphis, Tennessee. Returning to the Central Valley Bill enjoyed retirement by attending air shows, ball games, and family functions.
He loved animals and had many cats and dogs but spent every day with his beloved parrot Petey on his shoulder for most of his later years.
He would have lunch occasionally with friends, and both he and Linda took care of their young grandchildren, Nico and Brooklyn who referred to him as “Popsy.”
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda, son Douglas and his wife Susie, and grandchildren Nico and Brooklyn.
A Graveside Service for Bill will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Clovis Cemetery, 305 North Villa Avenue, Clovis, California 93612.
