Forever loved, David passed away peacefully after nearly 86 wonderful years. Born in Bakersfield, California he attended East Bakersfield High School before serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rochester. He worked his way up to lead Reynolds Aluminum's Central California branch and later became an entrepreneur while also attending college classes.
David is survived by his wife of 30 years, Irene, and their combined family. Three daughters Corby, Cynthia and Claudine and three sons Dan, Matthew, and Michael. He is also survived by grandchildren Steven, Danny, Cieanne, Tyler, Cosette, Christopher, Katherine, Chloe and great-grandchildren David, Alena, Adrian, Josh, Charlotte, Sebastian, Laurel, Dominic and Xavier. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Ruiz and brother Richard Martinez.
David's family was his life. He loved and encouraged them in all their endeavors and took great pride in them. David created friends wherever he went and maintained numerous lifetime friendships. All will have great memories of time spent with him. He will be missed by many including his "puppies" Hunny and Buster.
He loved to travel with his wife whom he lovingly called Rene. They enjoyed a fantastic trip to Italy, several cruises, trips to the coast, the mountains, and simple weekend trips. David learned to love the great outdoors from his wife and family.
Anyone who knew David knows that he was a committed sports fan. While the LA Dodgers were his all time favorite baseball team, he enjoyed football (Buffalo Bills, Fresno State), soccer, rugby, etc. Literally he watched and enjoyed any sport that was televised from Little League to professional teams.
To honor his love of sports, guests are invited to wear their favorite sports team attire to his services.
