Wenson, his step-father, Frank Babila, and his brothers Edward Wenson, Richard Wenson, and Leonard Wenson.
Thomas was born in Warren, MI on May 24, 1949. He attended Servite High School and graduated in 1967. He married his first wife Marilyn Louise Tanner (deceased) shortly after graduation. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War working in payroll. He loved to say that his brother, Leonard, was airborne, and he was “chair”borne. While in Okinawa, he welcomed their son, Bradley. After serving, he attended Walsh College and graduated with a degree in Accounting. He worked as an auditor for Price Waterhouse for a brief period and later became an accountant for Copper and Brass Sales. After his divorce, he met and married the woman who colored his world, Susan Horecka. Together they had 2 daughters, Aleece and Courtney.
As a boy, Tom’s proudest moment was being chosen to be the announcer at his 8th grade graduation. As a young man, he enjoyed playing baseball, horseshoes and later tried his swing at golf, but decided he wasn’t up to par. Tom loved playing cards, cribbage and backgammon. Many tried, but few could beat the King of Backgammon. He loved coffee, camping, and campfires. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor. He went out of his way to talk to others, particularly his fellow veterans. He loved spending time at Frankenmuth and Splash Village. He enjoyed pizza parties with his grandchildren, birthdays and holidays with his family. He frequently sang in the shower. A few of his favorite songs were “My Girl”, “Down in the Boondocks”, and “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay”. His grandchildren will always remember him singing “You are My Sunshine” as he said his goodbyes. Now it is time for us to say goodbye. He will always be our sunshine.
A memorial service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at a later date. Cards can be sent to 41866 Amberly Dr., Clinton Township, MI 48038.
