Tom was raised in Armada. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Tom worked as the City Controller and City Manager for the City of Roseville from 1968-1996. He went on to be City Manager of the City of Fraser from 1997-2005. Tom enjoyed spending his retirement in Northern Michigan at his cabin and was a member of the Eight Point Lake Association. He had many great memories hunting and spending time at deer camp with his sons. Tom also enjoyed fishing, golf, boating, and going to the casino. He was the past President of MAPERS.
Thomas is survived by his children, T. Paul (Alexis) VanDamme, Chris (Becky) VanDamme; his grandchildren, Autumn VanDamme, Christopher VanDamme, Meghan VanDamme, Maggie (Jesse) Flores; and longtime special friend, Ingrid Grotloh; and the mother of his two sons, Mary VanDamme. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, David VanDamme.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 3pm to 8pm at Kaul Funeral Home. A visitation will occur Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 10am until the Funeral Service at 11am at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48035. Burial will be at Richards Cemetery.
