First Lieutenant Samuel Argiri Jr. known as “Big Sammy” or “Uncle Buddy” to family and friends, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024 at the age of 92. After graduating from Pershing high School in Detroit, Sam attended Wayne State University where he received his military commission as a lieutenant in the US Army. Within the first two years of service he was promoted to First Lieutenant. Upon discharge he began his career as an elementary physical education teacher in the Warren Consolidated School District. During this time, he earned his real estate license and building license. He loved to design and build custom homes, apartment complexes, and shopping centers.
Family was important to Sam and he loved nothing better than attending his children’s sporting events. You would often hear Sam talking about his children and grandchildren and the great joy they brought to him. Sam was a proud father, friend and a devoted husband who adored his wife. His unconditional love and devotion to his family was evident. Sam was a generous man, always helping those less fortunate. He took pride in helping the underdog. “Double Lucky” also enjoyed his casino time.
Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Sharon (nee Ericson); his children: Deborah (Richard), Lesley (Brian), Kimberly, and Samuel (Libby); his eight grandchildren: Andrew, Brian, Hailey, Lauren, Allison, Paige, Brady and Samuel Alton; brother, Thomas Argiri; sisters, Norma Mason and Joan Baldarrama. Sam was preceded in death by sisters, Rose Volpe and Sarah Kohut.
The family will greet guests for a memorial visitation from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024 at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp., Michigan.
Inurnment with military honors will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, Michigan.
