Marie Theresse Fox (nee Breen) was born on December 21, 1937, in Detroit, to Daniel J. Breen and Mary Alma Breen (nee Donahue). Marie started off as a bookkeeper upon graduating from high school. Eventually, she ended up in Human Resources for the IRS and retired in 2000. As she always told us, her favorite job was being a mother.
From a young age, she excelled in sports. As the youngest of 4 siblings, she was often encouraged to play competitively. She was a cheerleader at St. Ambrose High School and enjoyed tennis, golf, bowling, and baseball. She also liked word puzzles and the Jumble.
Mea, (as she was called by her siblings, nieces and nephews) inherited an eccentric and playful sense of humor from her father. Her laugh was contagious. She was the favorite Aunt to many of her nieces and nephews.
She loved movies and TV. Some of her favorites included musicals from Rodgers and Hammerstein, especially The Sound of Music, West Side Story and Oklahoma. She adored Mike Myers and his Austin Powers movies. As for television, she delighted in all seasons of Monk and watched all of the different Law and Order series. Marie enjoyed going to the casino, especially with her sister-in-law Mickey Fox. Both would get overly thrilled over small jackpots on the penny slots.
Marie loved traveling. At a young age she went on a tour of Europe with her Aunt Mary. While there, they visited her brother Joe when he was stationed in the Army. Later in life, she enjoyed going to Mexico, Canada, Florida, and California. Her two favorite cities were Las Vegas and New York City. Her favorite travel companions were often family.
Marie married into a large family and enjoyed the company of her in-laws. She is survived by Elizabeth Hull, Kathleen (Gary) Pinkley, Jeanette Boss, Margaret (Richard) Vitale, Fr. , Daniel Fox, O.F.M.
