Kenneth Louis Rivard

Kenneth Louis Rivard, age 59, of Fraser and Harsens Island, passed away February 15, 2015. Born December 6, 1955 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, he was the son of the late Richard L. and Ina Bobye Rivard. On July 18, 1992, Ken married his loving wife, Kathy L. Grove Rivard, who survives.

Also surviving are Derek (Angela) and Kenneth (Mandy) Elsey, who Ken was proud to call his sons, and cherished granddaughters Elizabeth and Harper. He was loved dearly by brothers William (Lee) Herbert and Kim Rivard, sister Carol (the late Robert) Gillespie, sisters-in-law Dorothy Herbert, Linda Brazzel, Bette Grove (Dan Fields), brother-in-law Jerry (Diane) Grove, and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Herbert.

A 1974 graduate of Warren Woods High School, Ken had worked for the Macomb County Department of Public Works for more than 22 years, retiring in 2014. He had currently been employed by the Southeast Macomb Sanitary District.

Ken was an avid fisherman and he and Kathy enjoyed spending time fishing and boating at their cottage on Harsens Island. He also loved watching and playing hockey and had raced motorcycles in his younger years.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm at Kaul Funeral Home 35201 Garfield, Clinton Township, Michigan.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 12:00 pm Kaul Funeral Home 35201 Garfield, Clinton Township, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ken’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
