was born May 15, 1952, In Cleveland, Ohio to Leon Phillip Mitchell and
Eddie Mae Rush.
Leon married his longtime friend and love, Toni Haynes in 1973 to this
union was born Taneisha and Jason Rush.
Leon attended Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Where he played
for the basketball team in his sophomore year for the Glenville Tarblooders.
Basketball was Leon’s, first love. He was an extremely talented player. One
of his favorite movies was “He Got Game” the movie reminded Leon of
his own life story and one day he looked forward to playing a game of
basketball with his own son Jason who also has a love for the game.
On May 5, 2007, Leon took pride in walking his daughter Taneisha down
the aisle and giving her hand away in marriage.
Leon was an ambitious and creative artist who had the ability to write in
calligraphy.
Leon often went against the grain and wasn’t afraid of anything except
for eggs. Leon’s favorite dish was liver and onion which he could not get
enough of.
Leon transformed into a very giving and generous person. He was quite
the craftsman. You could always catch him doing remodeling and carpentry
work to beautify homes. Leon loved card games and making lasting
memories with his family, especially loving on his grandchildren. He will
be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Leon was preceded in death by his Father Leon Phillip Mitchell. Mother
Eddie Mae Rush, and Step Mother Lula Mae Mitchell. Sister Yvonne
Rush. Brothers Michael Anthony Rush, Joseph Mitchell, and Son In Law
Frank Clark Sr.
Leon is survived by his Daughter Taneisha Clark, and Son Jason Rush
(Nelly) of Cleveland, Ohio. Siblings Darryl Rush (Sheila) of Cleveland,
Ohio, Anthony Mitchell of Cleveland, Ohio, and Tyrone Mitchell (Elecia)
of Cleveland, Ohio. Grandchildren Frank Clark Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri,
Christian Clark of Alabama, Zavier Clark of Cleveland, Ohio, Shayla Rush
of Cleveland, Ohio and Jason Rush of Cleveland, Ohio. A host of Nieces,
Nephews, Cousins, Friends, and The Crestmont Nursing Home staff.
