I have so many wonderful memories growing up with Cousin Johnny on Chamberlain Avenue where we were surrounded by loving grandparents, aunties/uncles and more.  I remember the piano lessons he conducted and the fun we had playing outside.  When I'd visit Cleveland (home) he made me feel special by also inviting family members to his fabulous home to see me. Johnny loved hosting and was great at making you feel welcomed. He had an eye for unique art, exquisite furniture, and beautiful pieces he collected as he ltraveled the world. During my last visit he prepared a delicious lunch and topped it off with a homemade sweet potato pie... made with love!! You will be missed cousin!!  RIP

I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Johnny Williams. Johnny worked over 30 years with Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD). He was a dedicated adjunct professor of approximately 40 years with Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C).  He and I worked together for many years at the College. 

I remember Johnny taking piano lessons with Jackie Warren at the College; how he loved music and playing the piano! He also loved his beloved pet—his dog Georgio! I am praying for the family during this most difficult time, and take comfort knowing that Johnny is at peace and watching over us all.

My deepest sympathy to the Williams Family. I was fortunate to have Mr. Williams for my home room teacher at James Ford Rhodes H.S.  

I will always remember his infectious, million dollar smile. He always took the time to listen and guide me in the right direction. 

He was a great teacher and always cared for his students. A true gentleman with a lot of style! God speed Mr. Williams!

I had the privilege of meeting Johnny several years ago and last saw him at Karamu House last December.  Always greeting those he met with warmth and a big smile.  He will be missed.  My deepest sympathy to his family.  Truly, a one of a kind, gentle spirit.  Rest in eternal peace.🙏🏾

To my dear first cousin, I will miss our monthly conversations from Virginia to Cleveland.  It was great connecting with you over the past 15 years. Your intellect, wit, kind and compassionate conversations were very rewarding. Our time meeting you in Maryland at Karen's house and your time visiting my family in Virginia. I hope that you left the letter that I got President Obama to send you for your birthday in 2016 for your nieces (smile). You can now join your mother and sister in heaven. Johnny,  some people come into our lives for a season and some for a reason.    You came into my life for a reason.   You have been an inspiration in so many ways.   You were relentless  when you were passionate about something.  You had dedicated your life to helping others.  Never allowing anyone you cared about to fail, no matter what the agenda.   As of yet, your transitioning is not a reality for me .  I will forever remember your smile, very honest and direct comments and how you  moved barriers to climb the mountain of success.  I will also forever remember the beautiful sounds that you played on the Baby Grand whenever, I was visiting.  I thank you for those memories. By now, you are embraced by the love of your life, your mom.   May you rest with her in paradise and know that your essence will always remain in my heart.   Donna K

Johnny was a very classy guy, very smart, very learned, very cultured. He was devoted to his church ,  his family, his friends, and was an  accomplished musician. Most of all though, he was a heck of a nice guy.  Truth be told, Johnny was one of the best amongst us, and his passing leaves a void that will not be easily  filled. Rest in peace Johnny. The pleasure was all mine.

Johnny was a remarkable individual and educator who will be sorely missed.  May warm memories help to comfort you at this difficult time and into the future.
