Jo Ann was born in Mt. Sterling, KY to the late George Brown, Sr. and the late Sarah Ann Evans Thompson. Along with her former husband Clarence Reed, Jr. (deceased), and their 8 children, she relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1964 where she was a wife and homemaker. During the summer of 1972, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio and began working at the Ford Motor plant in Brookpark where she retired after 15 years.
She was extremely passionate about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was a dedicated member of the Church of God in Christ, Pastor Willie Winbush, Sr. She loved spending time with her children and her church family, enjoyed interior decorating, gardening, playing the keyboard and singing (even wrote a few tunes), and was a talented sketch artist.
Jo Ann leaves to cherish her memory, 8 children, Dwight Reed, Joan Childs (Jeffrey), Frances Graham (Tecumseh, Jr.), Eliza Taylor, Jonathan Reed, Eric Reed, Clarence Reed III, and Rodney Reed, 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a brother George Brown, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother Sgt. Thomas Downey, Jr., and tthree sisters Sarah Brown, Nancy Kenney, and Laverne Nieves.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home 14768 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44111. Bishop Willie Winbush, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at the West Park Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
