Alfonso J. Loving was born on September 25, 1958 in Oak Hill, West Virginia to Robert J. Loving and Myrtle L. Loving (both of whom preceded him in death). He was the second of six children. Three of his siblings, Vella Davis, Sabrina Cox, and Latonia Witherspoon preceded him in death.
“Fonnie” or “Fonz”, as he was affectionately called, graduated from Shaw High School in East Cleveland, Ohio. Immediately following graduation, he joined the United States Armed Forces. Alfonso was previously joined in holy matrimony to Margo “Val” Mitchell in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a loving parent to Jeffrey and Nicole.
Alfonso was introduced by his parents to Christ at a very young age. Alfonso loved the Lord, just as much as he loved Michael Jackson! He was called to Christ and worshiped at Pastor Loving’s Church, Sonlight Overcoming Church of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, cooking, grilling, reading his Bible and fellowshipping with his family. If you ever needed your yard maintained, some ribs or a pot of chitterlings, Alfonso was your man. His golden generosity will be missed.
Alfonso was a gracious spirit with a warm heart. His kind demeanor created a pleasant environment for those around him. Alfonso enjoyed working as a patient transporter at the Wade Park Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The job suited him well, given then he was such a people person and had an effortless ability to bring laughter to those around him. Alfonso left an impact on everyone he met, especially his Rozelle Avenue family. He will truly be missed. His family and friends already feel the emptiness left in the wake of his death.
If you know Alfonso, you already know that he is in Heaven, moonwalking, playing his boombox, and loving on his parents and siblings. He leaves to reminisce his memory his siblings Latissa Loving and Robert Loving, Sr.; Val, Jeffrey and Nicole; aunts and uncles Belinda Wright, Albert Hawkins, Jerry Hawkins, Ada Shedrick (Benny), Claude Hawkins, Phillip Hawkins (Christina), and Walker Loving (Betty); nieces and nephews Telina, In Son, Robert (Amanda), Otis Jr., Aaliyah, Bryon, Arianna, Shyenne, Amari, Allison, Rayshawn and Deanna; brother-in-laws Otis Davis Sr. (who preceded him in death), Nathan; special friend Tanya Smith; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Whoop, whoop, there it is!
