Sylvia was a friend of our mother, Evel Barcus, in the decade of their "90's".  My sister, Jane Sedley, my husband, Michael Feinstein and I have wonderful memories of visiting with her whenever we would be in town.    Her graciousness and spunk inspired us all.

I remember spending many Saturdays sitting at your Bexley Road kitchen table, having snacks and hanging out with Jeri and Sylvia. Dear Stephanie, Jeri, and Scott,
This is Pam Braun/Goldman writing. I was sorry not to be able to be with you at your mom's funeral. And I wanted to share with the three of you some of the things I remember about your mom that have stayed with me through the years and always will.  It was always very special to me that "Mrs. Rose" was one of my mother's best friends. I could tell how much my mother admired your mom.  I remember once going to your house, which was always neat as a pin and felt so fresh and spotless--and my mother said to me "I know when I'm here in Sylvia's house that I could open up any drawer (we were in the kitchen at the time) and every utensil would be in its exact right place." And then, too, I have memories of setting up lawn chairs in your backyard so we could all watch fireworks from there.  Your home was always a calm, lovely place to be--and it always seemed that your mom's influence was what made it that way.  My mother used to say that "Sylvia is a true lady"--and my memory of your mom is of a soft-spoken woman who moved with grace and whose smile would start out slow and then just grow and grow.  Throughout my college years, I would call "Mrs. Rose" whenever I was home from school--I think I even knew your phone number by heart (Evergreen something with 7's in it?)--she always made me feel that my call was welcome and that she reserved a special place in her heart for me.  May your memories of your mom give you strength and peace of spirit.  My memories of her are a treasure that I will always be grateful to have.  

Dear Scott, I extend my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your mom. You were one of three Scott’s that I had as students that year at Greenview. I met your dad at Dunn’s and he taught me how to replace my basement stairs in my first house
