Marty Bennett Friedman (Mordechai Benush ben Mayer Zeleg) passed away on December 9th, 2024. Survived by his former wife and friend Cindy Datzman, he was the beloved father to Jordan (of blessed memory), Ori (Dylan Padgett), Aaron (Esther Seif), and Julia (Ben Nudelman), cherished brother to Bernie (Nancy of blessed memory), Elkie (Tom Scheidt) and Mitchell (Lori), and much loved uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Born in Cleveland on September 28th, 1955, to Lila (of blessed memory) and Meyer (of blessed memory), he grew up in Beachwood, Ohio, and graduated from Beachwood High School. He attended The Ohio State University, where he was named the editor of The Lantern, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. He worked as a sports journalist at the Evansville Sunday Courier & Press, and spent many years as a communications consultant in benefits and change management with Willis Towers Watson and J.M. Smucker Co. Throughout his life, he fostered many rich and meaningful relationships with countless loved ones, life-long friends and colleagues, cherishing meaningful time and celebrations together. He enjoyed sharing meals and his love of cooking with others. He loved traveling and nature. He loved westerns, movies, and music. He was an avid Cleveland and Ohio State sports fan. He loved his three grand-dogs and two grand-cats. He believed deeply in living life through acts of loving kindness. Services will be held Tuesday December 10th, 2024 at 1 pm, at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 South Taylor Rd, Cleveland Heights. Interment at Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Shiva (visitation) will be observed at 3136 Richmond Rd (Wedgewood Crossing), Beachwood, Tuesday immediately following interment until 9 pm, and Wednesday from 5 pm to 9 pm. The family will be observing the remaining shiva days privately. Charitable contributions may be made to Bikur Cholim of Cleveland, Ben’s Friends, Oketz K9 Unit Veterans Foundation, and Hostages and Missing Families Forum.
