Brian Edward Jeffreys passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 after a long and brave battle with Parkinson’s disease. Brian will be remembered as a peace-loving, intellectual, humble, and hardworking man, who was happiest strumming a mandolin.
Born on July 8, 1946 to Mary O’Brien Jeffreys and Edward Richard Jeffreys, Brian grew up in Detroit. He moved to the Cleveland area in 1964 to attend John Carroll University. Brian earned a B.S. from John Carroll University and a master's degree from Cleveland State University.
Brian met the love of his life, Leslie Cohen, when they were both in college in Cleveland. They married in 1969 and started their family shortly thereafter. Brian and Leslie celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Brian was a conscientious objector to the Vietnam War and served in the Peace Corps in Malaysia. A multi-instrumentalist, Brian played the mandolin in the Plum City Rounders, a Northeast Ohio bluegrass band. Brian loved to travel, and he and Leslie traveled throughout the U.S. and internationally as often as they could.
Brian was the proud father of two daughters, Darya Jeffreys Klammer (Joseph Randy Klammer) and Maureen Jeffreys (Michael Bergsman), and the beloved grandfather of four, Mason Klammer, Cordelia Klammer, Clea Bergsman and Milo Bergsman.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Edward Jeffreys, and his sister, Mary Beth Telfer.
