W. David was born on July 18, 1946 in Marion, Virginia.
W. David leaves behind his wife of 37 years,Deborah J. Arents Powell, children, W. Keith Powell, W. Hunter and wife Ashley Powell, and Maura K. Powell. He also leaves behind two of the brightest lights in his life, his grandsons W. Harrison and Austin James Powell. Survivors also include his brother-in-law Dan Arents and Sister in law Vicki: nephews, Charles and wife Donna Powell, D.J. Arents and wife Katya and their children Kennedy, Dani and Nolan. He is also survived by his niece Mallory Arents Jacoby and husband Brian. Predeceased by his parents Ralph and Mildred Powell and his brother Ronald T. Powell.
W. David proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. After his time in the military, he began a career in the Brokerage business, which spanned over 25 years. During these years W. David was a highly successful stockbroker and bond trader.
W. David and his family relocated to Palm Harbor, Florida in 1991. David was an avid hunter and firearms collector. His firearms knowledge and many contacts in the industry provided the foundation for his next successful career. He and his wife created Guns International. It has become the most successful online firearm sales platform. David was truly a respected man within the hunting and firearms community, with a reputation of integrity and hard work. David’s friendly, outgoing personality made him the pillar upon which Guns International blossomed.
David was always the funniest man in the room: kind, and considerate. David always put his family first. Saying that he will be dearly missed does not even begin to capture the hole left behind by his passing.
A Viewing will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home 2853 Sunset Point Rd. Clearwater, FL. 33759 on Sunday October 30, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 4PM followed by a Funeral Service.
