CARDENAS, Fernando R. 69, of Largo, passed away on March 10, 2010 after a long struggle with cancer. He was born and raised in Lima, Peru, and emigrated to the United States in 1962. After relocating to the St. Petersburg area from Connecticut in 1973, he and his wife became the proprietors of Fernando's Jewelers in Tyrone Gardens Shopping Center, until they retired in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Elisa R. Cardenas; a brother, Cesar Cardenas; three sisters, Amanda Gangl, Graciela Guerrero, and Gloria Cardenas; a son, Alexander F. Cardenas and wife Angela; two daughters, Mary Ann Cardenas and Yvonne Cardenas Mogodiri and husband Lesego; and five grandchildren.
