She was born on June 10, 1940 at the University of Chicago Lying-In Hospital to her parents Jeannette Giroux and Joseph Baltrus. She was the oldest of four sisters: Judy, Virginia, and Janet. She was married for 49 years to George M. Temple of White Haven, PA. Barbara lived a full life raising three energetic boys: Scott, Todd, and Joe. She moved with her family to many different states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, and finally Florida, providing her and her family a diverse appreciation for culture and the love of life. She has four grandchildren: Cody, Trevor, Noel, and George. She earned her highest degree of education at Mount Saint Clare College in Clinton, Iowa.
She worked for the Sears Corporation in the Sears headquarters where her father had worked for 35 years before dedicating her life to motherhood. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to be social. Her and her husband are active members of the Abilities Foundation where they contributed many hours of service. She liked to play golf, organize bridge card games, have friends come over for a drink, and tell jokes. Her love for the sun and her aversion to snow echoes her personality. She is a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Clearwater, Fl.
During a 2010, 63 day battle at the hospital, Barbara recovered from a near death situation. While she was unresponsive, she said she saw an angel descend upon her and breathe new life into her. From 2010 to 2014, Barbara showed chutzpah in every aspect of life, from working out with her weights to finding passion in every moment of precious breath.
