Amy Reece passed away Oct. 1, 2020. She is survived by her son, Austin Adams; siblings: Peter Reece (Linda Reece), Susan Baird (Gene Baird) and Karen Holwell (Steve Holwell); nieces: Candice Wood, Casey Baird and Chloe Baird; great-nephew, Trey; great-nieces, Seirra, Taylor, Sciezka & Myrrha; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; goddaughter: Matilda; godson, Viktor; and many more close friends.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Reece and mother, Rosemary Reece.
Amy was born on September 22, 1975 in Decatur, Georgia. She attended St. Thomas Moore elementary school in Georgia before 1987 and then went to middle school at St. Cecelia’s School in Clearwater, Florida starting in 6th grade. Amy then continued on to high school at Clearwater Central Catholic. She made many life-long friends at St. Cecelia’s and at CCC. During high school, Amy volunteered at the Clearwater Marine Science Center (CMSC); now Clearwater Marine Aquarium. She graduated from CCC in 1994. Amy later attended college at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, Florida. In 1998, Amy graduated from Palm Beach Community College (PBCC). In August 2014, Amy started at SPC (aka SPJC) and received a degree for hospitality/tourism.
Starting in 2017, Amy’s most recent job was at Nielsen where she made many friends among her coworkers and was well-liked by all.
Amy was a happy cat owner and protector. She had three special cats named Harry Pearl, Melody Bob and Haley George. They were known collectively as “The Clowder.” They have since found a new home with Amy’s good friend, Angela.
Amy was also an ace clogger and joined the Bull Run Cloggers clogging group in Manassas, Virginia, when she lived there. During her time in Virginia, she also formed the Lucky Stars children’s clogging group in Manassas. She eventually moved back to Florida in the summer of 2014.
Amy was a Christian as well as a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church.
Amy was always a fan of all things turtle and sea turtle. She loved Jimmy Buffet and country music, especially 80's country. She loved taking pictures of family and friends and had loads of photo albums. Amy also enjoyed a good board game and there weren’t many she didn’t share or have. She also loved to make pumpkin bread on an annual basis and chances are good you got it as a gift if you knew her.
Amy was a loyal and good friend and would gather friends together for food, movies, games and all sorts of fun. There were many trips to Chili’s and Tri-City 8. She was also a lover of sunsets and was seen at the beach looking at them and taking pics of them. She loved her friends & family, her job, aquariums, zoos, road trips, cooking, and writing too.
Despite the challenges she faced in life, Amy always remained grateful for all the good things and people she had come to know and love. She always found something to be grateful for and would regularly mention those on her Facebook page.
May Amy be at peace in paradise and prayers of comfort and strength for her friends and family. God’s blessing on you, Amy.
